Fibairo is a Microsoft Airband Partner, we are based in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway and truly understand the needs of rural communities and businesses. These areas have not enjoyed the superfast connections common in towns and cities. We are on a mission to change that. Fibairo have pioneered superfast wireless broadband in the Scottish countryside for a number of years and are now ready to deliver superfast and gigabit capable connections in your area. We are working with the Scottish Government, as part of the Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme alongside the UK Government Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and local politicians to deliver high availability infrastructure and a range of solutions which will close the digital divide and connect the unconnected.
Mark Wheeler-CEO has worked at the cutting edge of technology and internet service provision for the last 20 years.
Previously part of the senior management teams at Sheffield-based ISP’s Plusnet, Peerex, Ask4, and Metrona, he has been involved in many of the innovations the industry has offered, pushing the internet in areas it has never been before.
Mark was the first to connect private student halls on a national network with Victoria Hall in 2002, to roll out National Ethernet Fibre with NTL in 2004, and was the first ISP in the UK to deploy Dark Fibre technology using the sewer systems in 2006.
After being introduced to TV whitespace he couldn’t resist the challenge of using it to deliver affordable, reliable connections to some of the most rugged and remote environments, and so Whitespace was formed in 2016.
Prior to his internet entrepreneurship Mark also had an extensive career in the music industry with Polygram Publishing and Mega Records (Denmark), Avex Records (Japan), Radio, TV and Film production, working on Radio 1, Big Breakfast, Blue Peter, BBC and Channel 4.
